Kendal Mountain Festival

Just back from the Kendal Mountain Festival. Survived the floods, drank too much and learnt a lot.

On the Saturday night I was reminded of one of my favourite poems.

I’m nobody. Who are you?

Are you nobody too?

Then there’s a pair of us.

Don’t tell – they’d banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody,

How public – like a frog -

To tell your name the livelong June

To an admiring bog.

Emily Dickinson

That poem would be more relevant today if the ending were changed to:

    “To an admiring blog.”

    Very sharp Mike. Like it.

I guess we’re all frogs and the whole internet is the bog these days. We can croak all we want, but it doesn’t mean anyone is listening.
