Resting has never been a strong point of mine. In fact any form of scientific approach to climbing hasn’t really been for me! Anyway, I decided that I would rest last week to give me a good chance of success on Mission Impossible on Friday.

The weather was amazing all week, and despite that I stuck to my plan.  I had to go out in the hills though, so I picked up the running slightly and got in a few early morning and late evening fell runs which were superb.

Friday came… I was rested and psyched… and all belayers disappeared. Doh. Couldn’t believe it. Worked a 12 hour day instead. I can’t imagine Dave MacLeod being put off so easily, but at least my Rockfax guide to North Wales is looking good.

The weekend was taken up with things that aren’t climbing, but I did manage a couple of sessions in The Mill and also a great 10k run on Sunday morning.

The photo is of Doylo cranking in the Mill on Saturday.
